Holy S@#! Ted Cruz Is Running For President

At this point, I’m not sure if I should facepalm or celebrate because of all the entertaining antics this means we will be seeing.

The Houston Chronicle is reporting?today that Sen. Ted Cruz will be declaring a presidential bid at a speaking event at Liberty University in Virginia on Monday. This would make him the first?GOP hopeful to announce a serious bid.

According to advisers,?Cruz will not be forming the “exploratory committees” that GOP hopefuls have been talking about. He will make his bid “outright,” according to the senior advisers.

The Houston Chronicle reported on?what could possibly make him an appealing choice and what his advisers believe will be a huge advantage for him:

“…his appeal to his party’s base who vote disproportionately in Republican primaries could make him competitive in Iowa and beyond.”

“… the key to victory, Cruz advisers believe, is to be the second choice of enough voters in the party’s libertarian and social conservative wings to cobble together a coalition to defeat the chosen candidate of the Republican establishment.”

However, they also reported?that he may have?the disadvantage of not being able to raise enough donations from contributors and few endorsements.

The Houston Chronicle also added:

“…if he advances to a general election, Cruz trails likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton solidly in early public opinion polls.”

No. Really? How shocking.?I know I’d much rather see a turkey sitting in the Oval Office than Ted Cruz.

All we can do at this point is wait for the “official” announcement on Monday; however, I have a feeling that his advisers are just planting the seed of anticipation, and this is legit. In search of pictures of Cruz, I’m already seeing Google Images inundated with “Cruz for President” images. I highly doubt though he’ll make it to a general election, but I do have a feeling he’ll last a few rounds long enough to?keep us quite entertained.
