TN Waitress Gets $36 Tip With A Heart-Felt Message

Last Sunday was a normal day for waitress Claire Hudson. She was working a double shift at Mac’s Grub Shak in Spring Hill, TN.

After waiting on a quiet couple, she took their receipt to the cashier for processing. The cashier noticed the tip amount and a handwritten note on the receipt that said,

“Today is my brother’s b-day. He would have been 36 today. Every year I go eat his favorite meal (hot dogs) and tip the waitress his age. Happy B-day Wes.”

After reading the note, Hudson had to leave the service floor to compose herself because the note brought her to tears. Her boss would like to track down the benevolent customer to learn more about Wes. Specifically, they would like to know how Wes liked his hot dogs and name a menu item in his honor.

Hudson also added,

“I have a friend, he was my best friend, he died about three years ago. This experience has definitely given me the idea to do the same thing on his birthday every year. It was deeply moving and just the coolest thing that’s ever happened.”

They stand a good chance of being able to track the man down, if he wants to be found. After posting the photo of the note on the receipt Sunday evening, the post went viral on Reddit and Imgur, and has continued to stir hearts across the nation and around the world.

The owners of Mac’s Grub Shak are identified only as father and son, Michael and Brian. The one goal they list for their business is,

“. . . to bring forth the best overall experience to every customer they serve.”

I think even ‘Wes’ would enjoy the atmosphere there, and I hope they find the unidentified man known only as Wes’ brother.
