Top 5 ‘Typical’ Phil Robertson Quotes From CPAC 2015

When Phil Robertson took the stage to receive the Andrew Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award, I knew a special treat was in store. Not just because of his outspoken nature, but also because of his knack for making hypocritical statements. With that in mind, here are five Phil Robertson quotes that stood out for me at the 2015 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Top 5 Quotes

Not one to shy away from his religious beliefs, Phil Robertson wasted no time in pulling his Bible out and sharing his ancient wisdom.

1) ?For you potential candidates, now look, to keep you out of trouble, to keep the scandals down, let me give you a little word of advice. You carry two things with you wherever you go, in case one of you gets to be the President of the United States, make sure you carry your Bible with you and your woman?

With Republicans shoving their extreme religious beliefs where they don’t belong already, especially in regards to women’s issues, I don’t think this would be such a great idea.

2) ?Now some of you are gonna think, as much as I love ya, you’re gonna say, ?Phil, our problem with a guy like you, is dude, you’re just a little too religious.?

Too religious for the GOP? I didn’t know there could be such a thing. Just ask Louisiana residents about HB 503 and how it tried to make the Bible the state book last year.

3) ?There is a penalty to be paid from what the beatniks and had morphed into the hippies, you say ?what do you call the hundred and ten-million people who have sexually transmitted illnesses?? It’s the revenge of the hippies. Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll have come back to haunt us. In a bad way.

Wow. You mean the same hippies that practiced love, peace, and community Phil? I believe words such as those are in the Bible also. I will grant you that maybe there was a little ?too much love? passed around back then, but to stereotype a whole sub-culture of people though is just downright arrogance. To blame them for sexually transmitted diseases now is just plain ignorance.

4) ?Stand on the Bible, stand on the Constitution, don’t budge, hold on to your weapons. That’s what brought us here. We had to have all three to run the Brits to back where they came from.?

Let’s not forget that two of those things led us to kill and enslave the indigenous people of this land. Later, all three would be used to justify and enforce the continued enslavement of many other races of people. A trend the GOP seems determined to keep alive in many new ways.

5) ?I believe Jesus came down from Heaven in flesh 2000 and 15-years ago. I believe he paid for all of my rotten sins, and I have a lot. But I’m not the only one. Every one of you seated in this audience has sinned?a lot.?

No matter your religious beliefs, I will say it was nice to see the entire audience called out on this one. The problem is that these so-called Christians that laughed, will shake it off and go right back to being the self-righteous, intolerant, entitled hypocrites that they were when they walked in.

While Phil had a lot to say during his almost 30-minute sermon, most of it was your typical anti-government, non-Christian intolerant, and culture smearing rhetoric we have all come to expect. What should have all of us worried though, is that this is the man that GOP Presidential hopefuls call to speak for them.

The quote from CPAC 2015 that probably best sums up the man and the message, is this:

?I am a God loving, Bible believing, gun-toting, capitalist?!
