The American Conservative Union, organizers of CPAC, invited users to submit questions for CPAC speakers on Twitter.

The ACU thus fell into the same trap as most of its colleagues on the fringe–they forgot that the reality-based world is watching everything they do. So you can probably imagine how well this went. But you don’t have to–Raw Story collected some of the real gems among the responses, and I found some as well.

We already knew that the right has been playing catch-up in social media since the 2008 campaign. This episode just proves how far behind they still are.

Darrell is a 30-something graduate of the University of North Carolina who considers himself a journalist of the old school. An attempt to turn him into a member of the religious right in college only succeeded in turning him into the religious right's worst nightmare--a charismatic Christian who is an unapologetic liberal. His desire to stand up for those who have been scared into silence only increased when he survived an abusive three-year marriage. You may know him on Daily Kos as Christian Dem in NC.
