By now, we’ve pretty much come to expect ridiculous, paranoid rants from Glenn Beck. But yesterday he managed to stack the bullcrap even higher than usual when discussing the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) plans for Net neutrality. While holding forth on the topic, Beck said,

But I’m telling you, in time, the voices like ours will be gone.”

With opinions like yours, one can certainly hope so, Beckster. Fortunately for you, we do have freedom of speech.?Beck based his proposition on a long-held theory of his that you cannot trust the government or business by saying:

“…and yet you’re giving Big Business and government more latitude! What are you, insane?”?

No Glenn, you seem to have the market cornered on insanity.?Beck then decided to go whole hog and call for the destruction of the nation he claims to love so dearly:

“We deserve to be wiped out. We deserve to be wiped out. If you’re this stupid, America, you deserve… and somebody else is going to have to rise up and free you. So it’s going to happen.”

That’s the spirit, Glenn! Someone disagrees with you, so now the whole country deserves to be “wiped out.”

The FCC’s proposal for Net neutrality would reclassify broadband Internet service as a telecommunications service, which would allow for more government regulation. Namely, it would not allow Internet service providers (ISPs) to decide at what speed certain data is delivered to customers. Currently, ISPs charge extra fees to companies such as Netflix to stream their service at a faster data rate. Internet entrepreneurs also argue that without neutrality rules of some kind, Web start-ups might not be able to compete with larger media companies.

In the past, Beck has also tried to work in an anti-tax/anti-control message for his stance on Net neutrality:

“They?ll come after you with taxes on everything. But this is truly about control. ? They’ve tried to take away your guns. They’re trying to take away your voice. They need control of the Internet.?

OK, Glenn. Time to take off the tinfoil hat and swallow your medications.
