The Green Bay Packers parted ways with backup tight end Brandon Bostick on Feb. 16, but Bostick beat them to the punch in announcing it himself first. Through his Twitter account, he offered:

The third-year Bostick made headlines after a routine onside kick recovery went eerie during this year’s NFC Championship game versus the Seattle Seahawks. Bostick’s mistake led?to a Seahawks recovery and an eventual go-ahead touchdown.

What made Bostick’s mistake even worse was that he was supposed to serve as blocker and path clearer for the sure-handed Jordy Nelson. But, as the story goes, Bostick’s unplanned heroics left the Packers without the ball, and eventually left him without a job.

However, even without his mistake, we still could have predicted?Bostick’s release, according to?Rob Demovsky of ESPN:

“Bostick was once viewed as a promising prospect but caught only two passes (one was a touchdown) last season. He was under contract with the Packers through 2015 and would have been paid the third-year minimum of $585,000 had he made the team.”

But Bostick next?tweeted:

Since the NFC Championship, the Packers have begun to unravel. It all started with Bostick’s missed recovery and then the team?fired?special-teams coordinator Shawn Slocum. Following that, head coach Mike McCarthy also gave up his play-calling duties and restructured his offensive staff. Lastly, top wide receiver Randall Cobb is due to become a free agent this year, which could leave Jordy Nelson as the lone king of the Packers wide receiving corps.

But I think the most important thing on the list for the Green Bay Packers is to take a step forward and not backwards.
