7 Reasons To LOATHE Modern Republicans and Conservatives

I came across an interesting article from Examiner.com that listed reasons why Americans don’t like the Republican Party. I have included these so that our viewers can see if they agree, and have included some of my own as well.

I mean, there are a multitude of reasons to disdain the modern-day Republican Party, but I had to narrow it down in some way. Enjoy.

1. Modern Republican Presidents Have Sucked

The Examiner article only talked about George W. Bush, but it is not just Bush. His father wasn’t really that good either. Maybe he was so bad so often, he gets lost in the conversation. Let’s not forget about Reagan also.

Now, we all know Bush was a colossal failure with Iraq and the economy, but Reagan hated poor people, people with HIV/AIDS, and wasn’t as good for the economy as most Republicans want to believe. In fact, I don’t understand how ANYONE could think modern Republican Presidents have been better than modern Democrat Presidents. Come on.

2. Their Bad Economic Ideas and Policies

– I am always astonished at how terrible people think President Obama is on the economy. The problem is that there are so many lagging factors when it comes to economics. So many of the disastrous things from the George W. Bush administration took years to take form. Not to mention, Obama incurred a lot of debt when he took the oval office. That’s before he ever signed ONE SINGLE BILL.

It seems that certain Americans don’t seem to understand this. If these people cared about history, they would have known that deregulation and stupid taxing CAUSED the great depression. But instead of inventing new or different ideas, modern Republicans just repeated these ideas and the near great depression of 2008 happened.

3. Their Hypocritical, Convenient Christianity and “Morality”

– Oh how annoying this is! Republicans, and more so Christian Conservatives, have refused to completely give up the “culture wars.” There are still Republicans vehemently fighting to ensure codified discrimination against LGBT people. What year is this again? And what are the most common arguments against rights and equality for sexual and gender minorities? Christianity of course.

As a Christian, this truly makes me angry. First, they seem to not understand that their religious beliefs cannot trump individual rights. Secondly, if they really believe their God would want to treat people as second-class citizens, perhaps their understanding of God is distorted. And third, they are merely convenient Christians. Why do these people only feel the need to make same sex marriage illegal? Have they even read the entire Bible?

And lastly, they have had SO many moral failings. From Newt Gingrich cheating on his wife as she recovered from cancer, to Richard Gardner who molested his own daughters. We can also name Mark Sanford cheating with a woman and going on a mysterious trip to be with her, John Ensign having an affair with a married staffer, Larry Craig soliciting sex with a male in a bathroom stall, and on and on and on. These are the types of people that constantly tell others how to live, yet have their own issues they should worry about first. These Christian Conservative warriors battling against LGBT equality, will surely end up with the likes of George Wallace when we look back on bad people who stood in the way of what is right. Congrats!

4. Their Views of The Middle Class And The Poor

– It is fairly simple, they look down upon those that are in financial hardship. They may not say it outright, but boy do we get the context clues. We can never forget Romney’s rant about the 47%. Also, the invention of “welfare queens”, mostly black mothers who just pop out kids and then rely on government assistance.

This is the type of perpetual rhetoric from the right that makes those on assistance look to be lazy. Let me say this personally: I have a college degree, three jobs, and if I wasn’t living at home, I probably would have to rely on government assistance too. So let’s not pretend like the U.S. is set up SO fairly, jobs are abundant, and wages are high enough for comfortable living. It is actually not that hard to find yourself in a financially unstable situation.

The degradation of the poor and those on assistance as lazy, has been proven to be untrue. Yet the debate continues with much of the same language because, when we cast out these people as undeserving, it is easier to convince a country that we don’t need to have as many social programs.

5. Their Views of Black People

– I can’t even get into all of this because I will become SO angry and I also don’t have enough space. The “birther” movement, trying to say that President Obama wasn’t born here, reeked with racism. Period. The posters calling and depicting Obama as a monkey also point to obvious racism. Did anyone really depict the Bush first family as apes? I can’t remember.

And I mean, who can forget the egregious mocking of the “I Can’t Breathe” movement from Fox’s Geraldo and Bill O’Reilly. They may not identify as hard Republicans, but they are in that group for sure. Their degradation of blacks by telling them to wear “Be a Better Father” and “Don’t Get Pregnant at 14” shirts was just racially incendiary. I could go on forever.

6. Their Beliefs About Women

– No, it’s not just that most Republicans are against abortion rights that makes me say this. Their bashing of things like condemns and birth control show just how out of touch they are. Remember when disgusting Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a slut?

We can also look at how former Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has gone on a rant lately against Beyonce as well. As if women being sexual is demonic. In many of these men’s views, it seems like any sexual empowerment from women for themselves is evil and, that a woman’s job is only to be sexual for her man in private. WACK!

Their obsessive and weird discussions about “legitimate rape” and rape culture especially on campuses is also troubling. Even Conservative women like idiot Ann Coulter and embarrassing Stacey Dash have made women out to just be naughty and attention-seeking. Yeah, THAT’S the problem. Political leaders also don’t support equal pay for women. Still, in 2015. Remember when President Obama mentioned equal pay in his 2015 State of the Union? Remember how Republicans sat their Grinch-faced? Yeah, there was that.

7. Their Views on Latinos

– Again, it is not ONLY that they don’t support reasonable solutions to the “illegal immigration problem”, but it is the ways in which they express their beliefs. I mean, anything short of rounding them up and shipping them off in buses seems like “amnesty” to them. Congressman Lou Barletta and others voted in 2013 to deport an estimated 800,000 young people who were brought here as children illegally. Because, that is not harsh at all.

Remember when former Congressman and Presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo said that the first Latina Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor, was a racist? Also, more recently, despicable Congressman Steve King of Iowa, called 21 year old Ana Zamora (who was brought here illegally as a child) a “deportable” and couldn’t understand why she was even invited to sit at the State of the Union.

Yes, Republicans seem to never discuss the amount of productivity that comes from these hard-working people, as they create the fear-mongering narrative that they are “stealing all our jobs!” Overall, they create a hatred for them that is unfounded and just downright mean.

There are many other things that easily belong on this list, especially of late. Their ongoing anti-Muslim sentiments and rhetoric are fairly scary and disgusting. What other reasons make you dislike the modern Republican party? Let us know!
