Bill Nye is teaching us about Deflategate & climate.
Bill Nye shared a video where he ran an experiment centering on footballs and Deflategate. He was testing one of the possible explanations given by The Patriots for the deflated footballs. Would changing the temperature of the footballs by thirty degrees make them softer or deflate? Bill Nye had several footballs which he stuck in a 51?degree fridge. While waiting for the footballs to cool off, he talked about Climate Change.
?You should vote for congressmen and senators that appreciate the threat of climate change and the rate at which the world is getting warmer, so that we can preserve the Earth for humankind for generations to come!?
It is obvious in the video how strongly he feels about climate change. Nye urges viewers to vote for Congress members who support and understand climate change. What exactly is climate change? We have all heard it, but do we really understand it? To sum it up, the Earth is getting warmer. Because it is getting warmer, changes are happening to the planet. A few changes are the glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, and oceans are becoming warmer.
As Bill Nye says, humans have released large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The gases trap energy in the atmosphere which then causes it to warm up. People can do some things to help the planet though. Recycling bottles, cans, cardboard, and newspapers reduces the amount of garbage you create. Heating and cooling your home efficiently can help as well and also save you money on your bill. A simple thing you can do is use Energy Star light bulbs in your house.
Back to the video, a timer goes off, and Bill Nye removes a football from the fridge. He attempts to squeeze it and test if it is deflated. Not surprisingly, the football has the same pressure as it went into the fridge. There is no deflation. This means the possible explanation is false.
Just as we are harming the planet collectively, it will take everyone working collectively to repair the planet. By all of us taking steps to use energy smarter, we can save the planet.
