This Cat Was Buried And Dug Out Of His Grave 5 Days Later

Do cats really have nine lives? Although that notion sounds crazy to us, it might not seem so preposterous to one owner in Tampa, Florida. According to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, this miracle cat was hit by a car. The owner stated that the cat was found, bloodied and stiff, and figured it was dead, so he buried the cat.

In a scene that could have come out of Stephen King’s “Pet Cemetery”, the miracle cat dug itself out of the grave and made its way to a neighbor’s yard. Dehydrated and in clear need of immediate attention, the cat was brought to the Animal Health Center after veterinary costs were deemed too high for the unsuspecting owner.

According to the Humane Society, the miracle cat is recovering from having his eye removed and jaw repaired. The prognosis for him is good, but there’s no denying that the cat will have a long road ahead of him. Some people have already begun donations on a Go Fund Me account.?To date, nearly $5,000 has been raised.

This isn’t necessarily a case of animal cruelty, but it has to cross some minds how the owner didn’t know the cat was alive. No one was there, so assumptions should be kept to a minimum, but if the cat survived five days while buried, had the strength to dig himself out and walk to the neighbor’s yard, is it out of the realm of possibility ?that the owner knew he was alive, but didn’t have the heart to keep it how it would be for the rest of his life? Maybe, maybe not. I’m just glad, as an animal lover, that the cat is in good hands and is on the road to recovery.
