Barbara Walters Completely Disrespects George Clooney’s Wife

As we look back on 2014, we realize that it was an incredible year indeed. Ferguson protests helping to spark a new civil rights movement, Ebola generating massive fear worldwide, and George Clooney actually getting married!

Ok, yes, one of those is trivial in the grand scheme of things, yet Barbara Walters obviously thought it was extremely monumental. In her annual “Most Fascinating People” television special, Barbara counts down the 10 people who are so fascinating that they couldn’t help but capture the attention of a global audience. She has had heads of state, politicians, actors, singers, etc, but her choice for number one this year was shocking.

Amal Clooney! George Clooney’s gorgeous wife was named the most fascinating person of 2014. Barbara Walters is undoubtedly a huge trailblazer for women in the entertainment and news industry. And yes, she highlighted some important facts about Amal’s life. For instance, she is a renowned scholar in the realm of ?human rights. She has degrees from Oxford University and New York University. She also speaks three languages and has worked for the United Nations. These are tremendously impressive achievements. While Barbara acknowledges this (barely), what made her choose Amal as the most fascinating is that she was able to tie down George Clooney.

Watch:

Clooney has famously stated that he would absolutely never get married again. As a handsome and famous actor, this broke the hearts of millions of females who would never even get the chance even if he was a huge marriage-enthusiast. But anyway, being able to get George Clooney to say “I do” is not really more fascinating than being an international human rights scholar and lawyer. But maybe that’s just me.

Sure, someone can be fascinating in ways that are not so profound, but it seems that in a year with SO much going on, this was a very fickle choice from Barbara. Ms. Walters also can’t resist discussing Amal’s looks. I agree that Amal is gorgeous and stylish, but aren’t we putting too much attention on how a female looks as opposed to what is in her brain? Isn’t this what we have fought so hard not to do? I typically enjoy commenting on a woman’s beauty and like when I am complimented in this department myself, but when you are as accomplished as Mrs. Clooney you should get more than two sentences dedicated to discussing your hard work and successful career.
