Neil deGrasse Tyson Cracks Christmas Jokes On Twitter, Religious Right Goes INSANE!

Our favorite brainiac, the always delightfully irreverent Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, was busy Christmas morning. He did two things that always infuriate the religious right:

  1. Tell the truth.
  2. Be hella offensive (by their definition).

I can hear my own personal critics saying this:

“Tiff, OMG, you’re a CHRISTIAN! How can you think these horrible things are FUNNY?”

Because Christmas isn’t a Christian holiday and Jesus Christ was not born on December 25th. By my way of thinking, observing this holiday as a religious holy day is the breaking of one of The 10 Commandments: “worship no other God before me.” That statement acknowledges that there are other gods, apparently, according to the God I worship. Would he say “worship no other Gods” if there WERE no other Gods? I’m pretty sure that celebrating the birth of these other Gods is against my religion, you know? So my family loves Christmas and we celebrate it as a fun secular holiday.

Enjoy this hilarious exchange below.
