Facebook Wingnuts Take Old Poll, Slant It So Obama Sucks Worse Than Romney

The Obama bad-mouthing is at fever pitch this holiday season. Sure, a lot of people may be complaining about Obama, but a lot of them are really just frustrated with his inability to break through the collective inaction of a Corporate Congress erected to lessen the impact of his reign.

Thickening the humidity is a Quinnipiac University poll that keeps getting heavy social media play of late, even though it was taken back in summer, using Iowans as the proper cross-section, and actually is framed in a way to suggest that America thinks Mormon Mitt Romney would have made a better chief.

Actually it was 45 percent of respondents who told telemarketers that Romney would have been a better fit for president in 2012. Wasn’t he the guy caught on YouTube railing against a full 47 percent of the population, how they pay too few taxes? That’s right: It was not ?his job to worry? about those citizens.

I knew something was creeping me out about the neighbors.

But rest easy: all kinds of creepy math is taking place here.

A quick perusal of the other statistics cited by the university allow for a more nuanced analysis of our national consensus. Let’s consider some things:

1) Respondents may very well have been divided by political affiliation from 45 percent Republican to 38 percent Democratic. (Wish we could all start agreeing more on which is more important: freedom or equality.)

2) It bears considering when the last economic meltdown occurred under Democratic leadership. Yeah: Been a long time.

3) We wonder if perhaps a good bunch of Americans voted against Obama because they were hoping he could have done even more of what he started out to do, were it not for the stronghold on legislators held by corporate and special interests. (Warren/Sanders, anybody?)

But even more illuminating than all that is how the same Quinnipiac poll announced that Obama is the Worst President Ever since World War II “among voters”, an assertion that needs even more leavening for context.

So who was the best? Why, it was our Actor President Ronald Reagan, with a solid 35 percent of voters. Math time!

Bill Clinton (18 percent), JFK (15 percent) and then Obama (8 percent) received a combined 41 percent (43 percent if you count Carter), which means that the past four popular Democrats easily put Reagan back in the tube. Democrats, the poll says, think Clinton is the best president (35 percent), though, with Kennedy and Obama both tying at 18 percent.

Hopefully these types of adjustments in presentation will help you avoid future propaganda posing as polls.

The Daily Mail helpfully pointed out that the White House stands to gain back Congress in four months, and that means so much is to be lost or gained, depending on which view of the aisle your perch currently affords you:

Generic congressional polls taken in the last several weeks put Democrats slightly ahead, but still within the margin of error. Republicans are likely to keep the House, but the Senate, which is currently controlled by the president’s party, could go either way.

?Even if Republicans don’t win the Senate, but they keep the House as expected, the president’s agenda will continue to be stalled, making it difficult for him to rebuild the widespread support that ushered him into office.

Obama’s press secretary, Josh Earnest, thinks the nation should think of Obama’s record: ?If you review the substantial accomplishments that we’ve racked up here, particularly in the last few weeks from this historic climate deal with China, to finally taking action to address some of the broken aspects of our immigration system, to obviously the substantial historic announcement on Cuba, that the president is pleased with the kind of progress that we have made.? said Earnest.

AND he found Osama bin Laden.

If we could pick our own nominees for Worst President, we would probably go with that actor, then that liar, all of whom seemed to be speaking for our venerable Wizard of Oz Dick Cheney, who gets our special honorable mention as Worst President Ad Infinitum.
