Dutchman Smashes Roof With Crane During Marriage Proposal

The lucky date of 12/13/14 will never be forgotten by one particular Dutch couple. It was the day they got engaged, and boy, was it a a day to remember.

A Dutchman’s attempt to propose to his girlfriend on Saturday in the town of? Ijsselstein quickly turned from creepy to catastrophic in perhaps the biggest marriage proposal fail of all time. The unfortunate fellow rented a crane with the intention of?slowly being lowered outside his girlfriend’s bedroom window where he would play her a song and then pop the question. Instead, the crane toppled over and smashed a large hole in the neighbor’s roof. Matters grew?progressively worse as the crane fell again, bashing in the rest of the neighbor’s roof during attempts to right it with a larger crane.

The man suffered no serious injuries, and luckily for him, his girlfriend said yes.

Watch the disastrous mishap below.

I won’t lie. I’m kind of glad his original plan didn’t work out. At least this debacle will create laughter in upcoming years when they tell the story to their friends and family. But being woken up to your boyfriend outside your bedroom window in a crane? Now that’s just creepy. Nothing romantic or humorous there.
