GOP Staffer Who Said Obama Girls Are Not A Good ‘Role Model’ Was Arrested As A Teen

You know what they say about glass houses. Elizabeth Lauten, the Republican staffer who attacked the President’s children, saying they need to “try showing a little class” wasn’t exactly an angel during her teen years.

When Louten was 17 years old, a year older than Malia Obama and 4 years older than Sasha is now, she was arrested.

Lauten was arrested in December 2000 for misdemeanor larceny, according to court records.

The Smoking Gun reports:

“Lauten, then 17, was collared for stealing from a Belk department store in her North Carolina hometown.

Because Lauten was a first-time offender, her case was handled via the District Court’s deferred prosecution program, which resulted in the charge’s eventual dismissal after the future scold stayed out of trouble for a prescribed period.”

Since Lauten was just another teenager caught shoplifting at the mall, it appears unlikely that she was publicly pilloried for her lack of class, nor were her parents criticized as poor role models.

According to NBC, Lauten is resigning following her unconscionable comments regarding the Obama children. The staffer for Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-TN) has faced a backlash over her Facebook post. The First daughters do not hold an elected office and the children of politicians should be hands off. One doesn’t need “hours of prayers,” to comprehend that, unless you’re Elizabeth Lauten.

Lauten said in her post on Facebook to Sasha and Malia, “…you’re coming up a little short in the ?good role model? department.”

Right back at ya’, Elizabeth.

As for the Obama daughters needing to show more class, Webster’s defines “class” as “a group sharing the same economic or social status.”

That puts Ms. Lauten in a less elevated class than two children.

Lauten resigned. Her social status is likely only influential in Tea Party circles but only because she bashed the President’s children.

I’m curious as to why she’s never weighed in on Sarah Palin’s adult children after they took part in a drunken brawl.
