A mother’s worst nightmare came true when the father of her son refused to return him to her after a visit in 2010. However, her nightmare ended finally when she was reunited with her now 13-year-old son on Saturday.
The identities of both mother and child were not revealed; however, it was reported?by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the child was found by Clayton County police hidden?in a closet behind a false wall after he was able to?to reach his sister via a smart phone?online. After one failed attempt at locating the missing child, a second attempt was successful when the child was able to contact his mother. She was then able to relay information back to the officers?at the residence. They?were then able to find the child. Five individuals were taken into custody including the father and step mother of the boy and three juveniles. They were charged with obstruction, false imprisonment, and cruelty to children with possibly more charges pending. For now, the child remains in the custody of Division of Family and Children Services as investigators establish why police were not involved any sooner and who has actual custody of the child.
