A little girl in Salem, Massachusetts was fed up with a street preacher who just wouldn’t shut up. It was Halloween, after all, and she and her family were probably out trying to have a good time.
The preacher was yelling?hellfire and damnation and the little girl said ?zip your lips!?
?Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!? she continued.
?Stop talking, no one listens,? the girl added, following up shortly later with, ?piehole should be quiet!?
For his part, the preacher ignored?her as he continued in vain to try to save the souls of everyone on the street.
“We need to turn to god before it’s too late,” he repeatedly said. “Turn from your sin.”
The man who filmed the video, Robert Goss-Kennedy, said this:
?Every year Salem is inundated with street preachers during our Halloween celebrations. They spend most every weekend during October telling us to ?Turn or Burn.? I’ve been recording their interactions with people for a couple of years now for a long running art project, and while this young guy was preaching, a little girl just ran up and started laying into him,? he explained on LiveLeak.
You know, I agree with the little girl. I wouldn’t want my children behaving quite this way, but dang, I do understand her frustration. Does the young man have a right to?do what he was doing? Sure. But the fact is, this kind of thing is beyond irritating.
And here is another important point. I’ve never known anyone say they were saved and turned to the Lord because of these nutjob street preachers. They’re lazy. Taking an easy way to “proselytize.” If they really wanted to try to talk to people about God, it would be more effective to just go about having conversations with folks. But no…that would require an actual genuine effort.
