Sarah Palin Has Endorsed A Democratic Candidate For Alaska Governor

Former failed vice presidential candidate and half-term Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has finally endorsed a candidate in the Alaska? governor’s race.

The current?Gov. Sean Parnell (R) was Palin’s lieutenant governor and promoted to governor?when Palin chose reality shows over fulfilling the duties of her office. In spite of their history together, however, Parnell didn’t win Palin’s endorsement. Sarah?Palin’s dubious endorsement went to a former-Republican-turned-Independent candidate and his Democratic running mate.

At a reception at Palin’s home last week, Bill Walker and Byron Mallott?– dubbed “The Unity Ticket” — received her?endorsement. Why did Palin endorse this ticket? Because God.

According to the Walker?campaign?s press release, Palin said she??trust[s] them to develop our God-given resources responsibly and to the maximum benefit of Alaskans.?

But what is this really about? Why would Palin make this bizarre move? From Mediaite:

According to the?National Journal, Palin was not happy when Gov. Parnell last year scrapped her oil tax increase, which she viewed as one of her greatest accomplishments in office. Critics have said Parnell’s measure could drastically diminish the state’s revenue because 90 percent of the Alaska government’s funds come from these taxes.

Palin voiced her support for a referendum during the Alaska state primary that would have repealed Parnell’s measure. That referendum narrowly failed, and the two have been at odds ever since.

I think Parnell is probably relieved to not have Sarah Palin’s seal of approval.
