Family Feud? Ron Paul Humiliates Rand Paul Over Ebola Travel Ban

On Monday, former Texas congressman Ron Paul said that a call for a travel ban from West African countries that are affected by Ebola is primarily “politically motivated.” We agree. But what makes this so awesome? His son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) said days earlier that he supports a travel ban.

Ron Paul told Newsmax TV:

?Right now, I would say a travel ban is politically motivated more than something done for medical purposes.?

From Politico:

Ron Paul, a favorite within the libertarian community, said the death of Thomas Eric Duncan, who died earlier in October in the U.S. after apparently contracting Ebola in Liberia, was not enough to justify a travel ban. ?We’re talking about one person that’s died, and we want to close down the world travel system, and yet right now, it doesn’t look anything like that kind of a problem,? he said. He also noted that the expected U.S. death toll for influenza is far higher than that for Ebola.

When asked whether he agreed with his son’s views on Ebola, Ron Paul added: ?Probably not exactly, but I haven’t dissected every single thing.?

Rand Paul said last week that a temporary travel ban is “only reasonable.” Here is a video of young Dr. Paul with his suggestions.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) has unveiled an Ebola visa ban. From MSNBC:

On Monday afternoon, Florida Senator and likely 2016 hopeful Marco Rubio took it one step further, becoming the first senator to promise to write legislation. He said he will introduce a Senate bill next month when the Senate returns; if passed, it would be applied immediately to Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, and any other countries where significant numbers are infected with Ebola.

Get your popcorn, folks. This will be fascinating if Daddy Paul keeps talking. Do you think Rand will say in a hushed, tense voice “Dad, you’re embarrassing me in front of my friends…..”?
