Daughter Of Hong Kong Leader Thanks Taxpayers For Funding Her Luxurious Lifestyle

Hong Kong is a hot mess right now. As Nextshark writer Alan Van puts it:

“Protesting for free elections while under Chinese rule isn’t a walk in the park. The last time that happened in a big way (in mainland China), hundreds of civilians were mowed down by tanks and assault rifles in Tiananmen Square.”

Frustrated with the growing economic inequality, protesters are demanding to be allowed to?democratically elect their leader.

Unfortunately, the daughter of embattled leader CY Leung isn’t making anything easier — she is being a bit like Marie Antoinette. She’s been hugely criticized for posting photos of her luxurious lifestyle, and recently attacked commenters who were offended by a photo of an expensive necklace that she posted on her Facebook page.

Her Facebook page has since been taken down, but?not before it was screenshotted.

Leung is a self-proclaimed fan of the Hilton sisters and she collects designer shoes to use as decor in her room, placing them around on surfaces instead of wearing them when she goes out. She says:

“Shoes are art to me.I put them on shelves around the room as decor rather than wear them out.”

Apparently she’s enjoying the media storm and the international attention she’s getting. And yeah, we hate to give her more, but it’s news, you know? This ?kind of stuff has historically been the catalyst for profound change. Check this out:

At least tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of people are protesting the streets demanding that her father resign. Seriously, he should. If he can’t even be a leader in his own family, why does he think he can lead Hong Kong?
