Two teachers in Louisiana have been arrested and have been charged with various charges in relation to having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old male student at Destrehan High.
After investigating, Shelley Dufresne, a 32-year-old teacher at Destrehan High, was arrested on Tuesday by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was charged with one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. A second teacher then turned herself in on Wednesday. Rachel Respress, 24, was charged also with “carnal knowledge of a juvenile, one count of indecent behavior, and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”
According to the The Times-Picayune, the allegations came about when school officials reported to the sheriff’s office that a male student was “bragging to other students that he was having a sexual relationship with teachers.” According to students, the teachers and the student had multiple encounters of which some were recorded on video.
WGNO reported that Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser has stated both Dufresne and Respess met with the male student on September 12th at a football game and then went to Respess’ apartment where all three participated in a threesome.
Glaser:
“You have an educator, I guess, the responsibility is the safety and education of the children and when it goes outside those lines I believe the community should be outraged.”
No kidding.
WGNO has also reported that Respess was the male student’s English teacher last year and Dufresne was his current teacher this year.
Dufresne has been with the school for 10 years and is married with three children. Respess has only been with the school for two years. Both have claimed they are innocent.
Of note, the student is now 17 years old; however, he was 16 when the incidents occurred.
