Here’s Your Proof That Voter ID Laws Deliberately Target Minorities

Brian Kemp

Many people- mainly Republicans- have insisted that voter ID laws do not target minorities on purpose, and are not about suppressing the minority vote. However, all evidence points to the contrary. Further, most minorities overwhelmingly vote for Democrats. The GOP is painfully aware of this. In fact, their own autopsy report from the Republican National Convention after their devastating losses in the 2012 election suggested that minorities “think that Republicans do not like them or want them in the country.” Of course, the report argued that this is wrong.

However, thanks to a damning video that has been uploaded to YouTube by Better Georgia, any arguments that the GOP might make to try to discourage the idea that they wish to suppress the minority vote are now useless. In the audio, Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp can be heard telling fellow Republicans:

In closing I just wanted to tell you real quick, after we get through this runoff, you know the?Democrats are working hard, and all these stories about them, you know, registering all these minority voters that are out there and others that are sitting on the sidelines, if they can do that, they can win these elections in November. But we’ve got to do the exact same thing. I would encourage all of you, if you have an Android or an Apple device, to download that app, and maybe your goal is to register one new Republican voter.

Also, the Senior Deputy Whip for Georgia’s Senate Republicans openly admitted to efforts to block early voting on dates and in locations that would be likely to attract African-Americans. That is blatant racism. Still don’t believe their efforts are racially motivated? Listen to the audio for yourself:

The real kicker is the fact that after blatantly admitting that more minoriites voting means more votes for Democrats, Kemp has launched a “voter fraud” investigation. These sorts of investigations are what have led to the much debated voter ID laws around the nation. Said laws usually have more of an effect on minority voters than they do on more privileged groups. If this isn’t blatant, institutionalized racism for the purpose of political gain on the part of the GOP, then I don’t know what is.
