Reporter Mike Anderson reports that Rep. Moore was bound with plastic wrist restraints and placed into the back of a patrol car. A police officer told Anderson that Moore and the other protesters were being detained so that police could “get them out of the street.”

The Wisconsin protest is one of many that are going on across the U.S. as fast food workers rally in efforts to try to force fast food restaurants to pay their workers a living wage of $15 per hour.

Rep. Moore has been released from custody and gave this statement, citing iconic civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis.

“There is an egregious flaw in our economy where there is 900 percent as much pay for corporate CEOs as minumum wage workers,” Moore told WISN 12 News reporter Colleen Henry after her release from custody. “I’m taking the advice of collegaues [sic] like John Lewis who said ‘You really do have to put yourself in the way.’ You have to put your body in the way, your freedom in the way, your comfort in the way in order to articulate this issue.” She added “I thought it was important to elevate this issue and raise consciousness.”

Moore was issued a $691 ticket for her “offense.”
