When beloved actor Robin Williams died, it shook the world and shifted how we perceive clinical depression and mental illness. How could the funniest guy in the world be depressed? The fact is, depression has little to do with how “funny” we are, or what’s going on in one’s life. It’s science and this video shows how it works.

Can science solve the problem of depression? Maybe. It’s profitable for pharmaceutical companies to continue to find treatments for this devastating illness. But certainly, the harder we work to educate people that mental illness is a physical condition, the more understanding we can foster.
