Obama Press Conferences Addresses Crisis In Ferguson (FULL STATEMENT)

President Obama spoke on Monday about the situation in Ferguson. The primary message was?”Let’s seek to heal rather than to wound each other.”?The president?called on the people to address “the gulf” that exists between minorities and law enforcement, and stressed the need for?respect from all sides. He said that police may?need to re-examine use of heavy military equipment in dealing with protests. He also stressed that there is “no excuse for excessive force by police.”

The autopsy on Michael Brown has been completed and it shows that Brown was shot “at least six times.” The troubling testimony of witnesses adds to the furor of the people who are protesting in Ferguson.?Amnesty International is now on the ground and monitoring activities in Ferguson and the governor has deployed the National Guard to try to establish peace and order.?The president stressed that it was Gov. Nixon who brought in the National Guard, not the federal government. Attorney General Eric Holder will be traveling to Ferguson on Wednesday.
