109 Things Obama Has Declared War On

obama war on everything

The right wing loves to toss out the following phrase:

Obama has declared war on ____________________. (insert whatever in the blank)

Mother Jones?writer Dave Gilson recently pulled together this excellent and well-researched list (with links!) of the things upon which President Barack Obama has declared war, according to right wing politicians and media pundits.

Here are some of my faves:

  1. Christmas trees
  2. Poor people (?????)
  3. The Forbes 400
  4. The American farmer
  5. Fishing!
  6. Cheerios????
  7. Human Excellence
  8. Poker
  9. The Bowl Championship Series (this is a dead link…sort of like the dead argument)
  10. Knowledge!
  11. Facts (hahaha)
  12. Vegan shops
  13. Fun!
  14. Sloth (ha)
  15. Conscience
  16. The internet
  17. Mousepads
  18. Coffee mugs
  19. Transparency
  20. Ireland (?)
  21. Greed (shouldn’t we all be trying to fight this monster?)
  22. Education innovation
  23. Everything (except America’s enemies)

And of course, there are victims on the list who always feel victimized. Fox News, conservative talk radio, gun owners, religion, rich people, etc…
