The nation’s favorite diva has found a new way to get herself in the national conversation. Last night, Sarah Palin announced the launch of a new video news channel called–drum roll please–the Sarah Palin Channel.
In a YouTube video and Facebook post announcing the channel, Palin bills this new venture as a way for her to “talk directly to you on our channel, on my terms” in order to “cut through the media’s politically correct filter.” It’s a joint venture with TAPP, an online video company formed by former NBCUniversal Television chief Jeff Gaspin and former CNN U. S. president Josh Klein. It appears to use the same model Glenn Beck used to launch his own video channel, TheBlaze. The site can be viewed on any computer or smartphone.
The site will feature video commentary from Palin and other guests, as well as videos of Palin’s speeches–which should provide some pretty interesting fodder if she decides to run for president in 2016. Users will be able to post their own videos to the site, submit questions to Palin, and take part in online chats with Palin and other subscribers. If you’re hoping to get an insight into what makes Palin’s base tick, you’re going to be disappointed–the discussion boards are subscription-only.
Subscriptions cost $9.95 a month, or $99.95 per year. Active-duty servicemen can subscribe free of charge. No word yet on whether yearly subscribers will get their money back in case Palin bails halfway into her contract.
One of the sample videos on the new site is typical Palin–a call for Congress to get over its fear of “the scary I-word” and impeach Obama for deliberately failing to secure the border.
Check out her new channel here, and let us know what you make of it at the Liberal America Facebook page.
