Leave it to Rush Limbaugh to find some way for a tragedy to be linked to the mainstream media’s constant effort to help a Democrat in the White House.
Limbaugh thinks that the mainstream media was looking for a way to ease the pressure President Obama is facing in the wake of hundreds of Central American children fleeing to the U.S.-Mexico border. In Limbaugh’s eyes, the brass at CNN, MSNBC and the over-the-air networks got what they were looking for when a Malaysia Airlines jet bound from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down in eastern Ukraine yesterday. All indications are that it was blown out of the sky by a surface-to-air missile. Ukraine maintains that pro-Russian rebels were responsible, a claim that American officials seem to support. To Limbaugh’s twisted mind, this crash was all too convenient for the media.
“You know, I’ve got the British Open on to the top monitor.? I haven’t had CNN on all day.? What do you bet they have broomed everything and are covering wall-to-wall the Malaysian Airlines flight shot down by a missile??
I mean, you talk about… I don’t want to appear to be callous here, folks, but you talk about an opportunity to abandon the Obama news at the border?? And, no, I’m not suggesting anything other than how the media operates.? Anyway, it’s eerie.? It is really eerie.”
Here’s what’s eerie, folks. Apparently in the wingnut world, unless you’re acting like Fox News and looking for a scandal under every rock, you’re bowing and scraping before Obama at every opportunity. What if you actually do your job and realize there are actually other stories out there? No, no. In Limbaugh’s world, if you’re not spending all of your time looking for wrongdoing whenever a Democrat is in the Oval Office, the only explanation is that you’re somehow on the White House’s payroll.
I know, it’s sick and twisted. But you have to remember that Limbaugh and his ilk don’t consider ANY Democratic president to be legitimate.
