To start the day out, Republican Todd Akin did not miss a beat with his continued expert opinions on ?legitimate rape.? Appearing with Chuck Todd on ?The Daily Rundown? this morning, Akin attempted to justify his 2012 remarks regarding sexual assault?when he said:

?First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, uhh, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.

Akin started his explanation by stating that the term is “a law enforcement term?? When pressed by Todd as to why he chose the words he used, Akin replied ?I have acknowledged it was a poor choice of words.?

Shortly after, Akin explains how his own words were ?intentionally misunderstood and twisted for political purposes.? At the time, Akin was the Republican Congressman of Mo. and in the running for a state Senate seat.

While these types of comments do become political, Akins reasoning seems to have a problem. After a quick and obvious strategic rant regarding Bill and Hillary Clinton’s integrity, Akins went on to say:

?Well look, first of all I’m not presenting myself as a doctor. There have been six recent studies, and we can provide you with a footnote for those, that say that stress plays?has an effect on pregnancy.?

So as Chuck Todd pressed Todd Akin for answers, Akin continued to find a way to double-down on his statements regarding?his statements.

With the GOP having an apparent abundance of knowledge regarding women’s health issues, this type of nonsense should not be forgotten come time for the November mid-term elections.

Also, as the current humanitarian crisis along the Texas border continues, and with the callous response towards the innocent children caught up in this mess from most Republican?s, Akins added this heartwarming statement about life during the interview:

?Because I believe that little children are special.?
