So picture this scenario. You’re taking a walk in the park and in your peripheral vision you see flashing blue lights coming from a guy on a skateboard. If you’re in Green Bay, Wisconsin, you may not be dreaming. You may be getting “pulled over” by police officer Joel Zwicky aka “Skateboard Cop.”

Zwicky, a 10-year-veteran of the Green Bay police force, says that he prefers his longboard to a squad car because it lacks the “barrier” that cars have. Fully outfitted with wide trucks, big wheels, and flashing blue and red LEDs, Zwicky’s board makes him feel that he’s a more integrated part of the community.

Zwicky patrols the city’s parks, school zones, and bike paths on his longboard, helping his department access locations that would otherwise tend to go neglected.

When asked if he’s ever skated down a criminal, he said this:

?I only tried it once, on a trail, when I caught a [motorcyclist] where he was not allowed,? Zwicky told KMSP-TV. ?That was a jaw-dropping experience for both of us.?
