Michigan Men Kill Each Other Over Road Rage: Five Tips to Help Avoid a Road Rage Incident

gun being fired

In another senseless act of violence, two Michigan men kill each other in a road rage shooting.

Robert Taylor, 56, apparently began following James Pullum, 43, a little too closely for Mr. Pullum’s liking late Wednesday night, which resulted in both vehicles stopping in the parking lot of a local Wonder Wand Car Wash.

As the two men exited their vehicles, they began exchanging gunfire. According to police statements?”eight to nine” shots were fired. Police also told ABC News that no information could be given at the moment regarding who fired the first shots.

To add to the tragedy in this case, both Mr. Pullum’s wife and mother were in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. Mr. Taylor was alone.

While there is no information as of yet on whether drugs or alcohol were involved, what is known is that Mr. Taylor had a legal concealed weapons license.

With senseless acts of gun violence occurring what seems like every week these days, innocent bystanders unfortunately get caught up in such acts unwillingly. Which makes this incident even more senseless.

So with the topic of road rage in mind, for both the raged and the unwilling participant, here are a five tips that just may help avoid a senseless violent altercation.

Five Tips to Help Avoid a Road Rage Incident

1) Let it Go– If someone makes you so angry due to the way they drive, you have to find a way to let it go. Common sense will tell you that there will be no positive outcome in confronting someone over their driving skills. Now if the other driver is putting your safety and others at risk, take down their license plate number, pull over to a safe spot, and call it in to the police.

2) Don’t Tailgate– Unfortunately, some people actually need this tip. Tailgating serves no purpose. Unless you just want people to know you’re a jerk. Tailgating will not get you to your destination any faster, especially if you cause an accident. So plan ahead.

3)Avoid Eye Contact– According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, avoiding eye contact, ignoring certain gestures, and just going about your own way will greatly reduce the chances of an altercation.

4) Obey Traffic Laws– Yet another common sense tip that would eliminate many problems with your fellow motorists. A simple act such as not using your turn signal could cause a chain reaction of anger and aggression in another driver.

5)Drive to a Police Station– In the worst case scenario of an overly aggressive and angry driver, that will not leave you alone, drive to a police station. Chances are that driving straight to the front of a police station will greatly reduce the odds of an altercation.
