It looks like Rick Perry has done it again.

During an interview?this Wednesday sponsored by the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco, the Texas governor tried to place homosexuality in the same category as alcoholism.

Rick Perry was?being asked about the recent move at the Texas GOP Convention to endorse gay “reparative therapy” in their party platform. That’s when he decided to offer his commentary on whether or not he thought homosexuality was a disorder.

“Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that. I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time the Texas governor has got himself in hot water over over controversial remarks about the LGBT community. Rick Perry’s infamous?“Strong” commercial, a political ad ran during his short-lived presidential campaign in 2012, has been one of his biggest anti-gay statements up to this point. Beyond that, he has consistently fought against efforts to advance gay rights in his state.

Rick Perry?is not running for reelection, but his statement could effect others in his party who are running this year. Homosexuality isn’t a choice, but?who the people in Texas vote for in November is.
