Allen West’s Paranoia Escalates, Is Seeing Racist ‘Liberal Plants’ Everywhere

Allen West seems to have gotten it in his head that whenever right-wing lunacy is brought to light, it’s the fruit of liberal attempts to discredit the conservative movement. Just yesterday, I mentioned that West claimed a radio show caller who called for President Obama to be lynched by the Ku Klux Klan was actually a liberal plant. Now comes word that West thinks another plant may be behind racist literature found at Fort Carson, Colorado.

According to the Army Times, military and civilian investigators are looking into reports of white supremacist flyers turning up at Fort Carson, home of the 4th Infantry Division. Several paratroopers found the flyers in a bag, along with a CD. One of them posted images of the flyers to Reddit, and turned the flyers over to investigators at the urging of several commenters. The flyers were distributed by Northwest Front, a white supremacist group looking to carve out a whites-only country out of the Pacific Northwest. They urged troops to join Northwest Front’s effort to “secure the existence of our people.”

When West saw this, he took to his blog and suggested that it was yet another example of what he claimed is SOP for the left–“besmirching the military.” For one, West wrote that the only paratroopers associated with Fort Carson are part of the 10th Special Forces Group, a unit of the Green Berets.

He claimed that Green Berets “don’t go public and advertise like this.” He claimed that this story was the start of a liberal campaign to suggest that hate groups have infiltrated the military, and warned against a “knee jerk reaction” that results in our men in uniform being smeared.

From the looks of it, West may be the one having a knee jerk reaction. According to Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at the University of California, Santa Barbara, white supremacist groups have made a major effort to recruit military personnel–both active and retired–for some time. Levin is almost certain that the flyers were distributed by someone on active duty, given that they were found on base rather than the larger Colorado Springs/Pueblo area. It’s hard to believe that West, being a retired officer, wouldn’t have been aware of this trend. Is he that obsessed with looking for liberal false flags under every rock that he’s willing to ignore that evidence? Sure looks like it.
