In more news from Florida, Wilton Manors Commissioner Ted Galatis has admitted and apologized for using a racial slur during a confrontation that began in the Publix parking lot. He claims to have felt ?threatened? by a female driver and her passengers.

According to the police report, NBC6 reported:

??a car began honking repeatedly at Wilton Manors Commissioner Ted Galatis in a Publix parking lot on Oakland Park Boulevard, according to a police report obtained exlusively by NBC6. The car followed him home, where the driver said Galatis ?began calling her and her passengers ?N_______,? the report states.?

The driver has said she doesn’t ?want him to get away with it,? which is why she called the police afterwards.

The commissioner said the incident began in the Publix parking lot when the driver and her passengers drove up behind Galatis and started honking the horn repeatedly. They then followed him home where the incident?continued.

Galatis? wife, Donna Galatis, has defended her husband sharing that the occupants of the vehicle verbally threatened her saying, ?white b—-, I’ll slice you up.? She has refused to answer any more questions. NBC6 has said they only want to hear Galatis? side of the story.

Galatis himself has apologized for his use of the racial slur. He issued this statement:

?I apologize for my use of the n—– word. It is something I never say. I offer no excuse, other than it was uttered when I was being threatened in front of my own home.?

Despite his apology and excuse for his use of the racial slur, neighbors and colleagues alike feel it is not enough.

One neighbor made this comment to NBC6:

?Unfortunately that just doesn’t go. I mean, it’s unfortunate you can’t say words like that and take them back. You know you got to pay the price. Donald Sterling just paid the price for what his situation was.?

As there is no law regarding the use of racial slurs, no charges have been filed.

This is absolutely unfortunate. If the passengers of the car made threats to Mr. and Mrs. Galatis, that of course is wrong in its own way. However, the use of such language?was absolutely unnecessary. If Mr. Galatis felt threatened, he should have grabbed his cellphone and called the police. There are laws against making threats. However, he did not do this. He chose to say something extremely repugnant and rooted in hate instead. What do you think readers? Is the use of this word justified in this case, or is it still unacceptable? Let us know your thoughts on the Liberal America Facebook page!
