Alex Jones: Las Vegas Shooting Was A False Flag

Sadly, it should come as no surprise that elements of the right wing are claiming Sunday’s grisly shooting at a Walmart in Las Vegas was a false-flag operation designed to make it easier to pass gun-control measures. What comes as a surprise, though, is how fast one of its most prominent voices, Alex Jones of Infowars, has descended into pure crazyland.

Less than 24 hours after the shootings, Infowars blogger Kurt Nimmo fired off a story wondering–loudly–if the shooting was intended to “demonize the patriot movement.” Specifically, Nimmo pointed out that such mass shootings are often stirred up by “government inserted agents provocateurs.” Nimmo also noted that the shooting took place only five days after the Justice Department announced a renewed focus on domestic terrorism.

Mere speculation by just one blogger? Apparently not according to Jones, who declared later on Monday that in his opinion, the shooting had been “absolutely staged,” based on “hundreds of data points” that went off in his head when he learned about the shooting. In his opinion, Jerad and Amanda Miller were “CIA cutouts” who had been brainwashed by a secret mind control program called “MK-ULTRA.” If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s the same program that conspiracy theorists say carried out Columbine, Sandy Hook, and Aurora.

And who does Jones think was the mastermind of this false flag? Harry Reid. Jones claims that the Senate majority leader was not at all happy about Cliven Bundy’s March standoff. According to Jones’ narrative, Reid branded Bundy’s supporters as “domestic terrorists” and demanded that “everyone needs to be arrested.” The Millers were among the “patriots” who descended on Bundy’s ranch, and Jerad Miller actually spoke to the media on a few occasions while at the ranch. But they were actually asked to leave due to concerns about their criminal pasts and extreme views.

On the same program, Jones ticked off a list of Jerad Miller’s Facebook likes, and cited them as “evidence” that Mark Zuckerberg and the White House were in on the scheme, which he claimed was designed to “demonize” all conservatives.

Believe it or not, this is mild stuff for Jones. Back in 2013, he appeared on the BBC’s Sunday Politics and ranted on just about every conspiracy theory under the sun–the Bilderbergs, the banks, etc. Host Andrew Neil was having none of it and cut the interview short, pronouncing him the worst guest he’d ever had. If anyone in the UK is wondering how this guy could possibly get a platform, don’t worry–we’re wondering the same thing.
