Becky, a 14-year-old girl?from the U.K., recently visited a food bank for the first time with her family. The producers of a documentary that will air in the U.K. on Monday asked?three children to share what it feels like when there’s no food in the house. Becky had a hard time talking about it, so she turned to what she knows can help her communicate — art.

From BuzzFeed:

?I want to break the cycle, I want to make sure I have a decent future for myself and my own family. I wanted to be a manga understudy. Help illustrate stuff. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. It can be a release. I mean you can draw your emotions on a sheet of paper, sometimes you can’t write them down, you can’t speak them but you can definitely draw them,? she said.

The producers of the show put Becky in touch with a Manga artist — Chie Kutsuwada — so that Becky could tell her story.

This is it. You can watch the video of Becky’s story underneath the cartoon. Let us know your thoughts at the Liberal America Facebook page.
