In my last religions post, we looked at Satanism and I was unable to do it justice because there was so much information on it. (Again, I apologize sincerely to my readers for that. You deserve so much better and I plan to do better from now on with writing these articles.)

However, this week, we are going to look at Luciferianism. It is vastly different than Satanism and we are going to look at the differences between the two and we are going to also look at the beliefs, rituals, and practices of those who practice Luciferianism.

What is Luciferianism?

Luciferianism is the attainment of knowledge and inner power through?the left hand path. Ideology, magick, and philosophy all work towards this goal.

The type of knowledge that is first sought is knowledge of self and includes:

  • strengths
  • weaknesses
  • all that makes the person truly individual

Initiation for the revealing of knowledge is through study and practicing magick.

The social concepts of God and religion are rejected and it is felt that they are instead used to control the populace. It is also felt that knowledge is suppressed, rewards weakness and apathy, and places unrealistic expectations in hopes of gaining a reward that is not there.

Some believe in Lucifer as a spirit, but focus on the good qualities of what he has to offer rather than the bad qualities. He is also paid respect, but they are not subservient to him.

Some do not accept Lucifer as a being and instead see an opportunity to seek enlightenment apart from God.

Luciferians do not believe in an afterlife like the Judeo-Christian one. That does not mean they do not believe in one, however. It’s just not the traditional one that many Christians have been taught about.

Beliefs.

Similarities with Satanists.

There is no agreed upon dogma, so the beliefs and practices are varied from group to group.

But, as do Satanists, Luciferians do view human beings as gods and having mastery over the planet. Luciferians also have sets of ethics which are showing respect to those who deserve respect and leaving those alone who have done nothing wrong.

Creativity, excellence, success, freedom, individuality, and enjoyment are all supported and encouraged.

Dogmatic religions are rejected.

Christians are viewed as victims of their own religion and are considered too dependent to escape it.

Neither Luciferians nor Satanists view Lucifer as a god.

Differences.

The light and dark is emphasized by Luciferians.

Luciferians see Satanists as overly dependent upon the Judeo-Christian view of Lucifer.

Satan and Lucifer are viewed as two sides of the same coin.

Luciferians are focused primarily on the spiritual aspect of Lucifer, while Satanists are focused on the nature of man.

Religion.

As with any religion, there are different schools of thought on the matter by various people.

There are different approaches, rituals, and practices of each group and, with there being no set dogma, it varies from group to group.

**Note**

On the second link that is embedded in the article, should you readers click on it, it is, at the end, mentioned about Satan being the enemy. It was not linked in this article for that purpose, but for the part that mentioned there is no dogma in Luciferianism. I apologize for any toes that may be stepped on because of how it compares Wicca and other religions to Luciferianism.
