In what appears to be a step back into the times of racial intolerance and ignorance, a Canton Mississippi Justice Court judge has been accused of assaulting a black mentally challenged teenager and calling him the N-word, saying ?Run n—-, run!? on May 8th.

The Clarion-Ledger reports:

The family has filed a complaint with police against Madison County Justice Court Judge Bill Weisenberger, who is white, alleging he struck their 20-year-old African-American son, Eric Rivers, on May 8 at the Canton Flea Market.

Bill Weisenberger, a white man, was moonlighting?as a security officer at the Canton Flea Market when he encountered Eric Rivers. Eric, who was trying to earn money for a bicycle, was slapped in the back of the head. When he ran off, Weisenberger yelled ?Run boy run,? and ?run [expletive] run.? A vendor and her sister both witnessed the incident and overheard Weisenberger brag about his behavior. Cathy Hendrix:

??seemed to be suffering from an authoritative complex and was making sure that everyone knew that.?

Not only is he racist but Weisenberger appears to also be misogynistic. Hendrix witnessed a female vendor being subjected to Weisenberger’s abuse and said the judge told the vendor he did not take orders from a woman. Calls have been made for Weisenberger to step down from his position as judge.

William Truly, former Canton mayor and president of the Canton branch of the NAACP:

?No citizen should have to face justice before a judge who holds such a high degree of racial animus and hatred.?

Weisenberger is expected to face the grand jury at some point, and the NAACP intends on filing complaints. It is abhorrent that an authority figure who must practice impartiality could be so ignorant and biased towards a race and apparently women also. It is also outrageous that anyone could victimize the mentally challenged. I hope committees will review Mr. Weisenberger’s rulings to ensure there is no bias in his judgments.
