65-Year-Old Vet Stomped, Beaten, Kneed At VA Hospital. He Died.

Jonathan Montano went to the VA hospital Long Beach Loma Linda expecting to receive dialysis in 2011. Four hours later he left beaten and suffering a stroke which would eventually kill him

Montano had grown impatient with the four-hour wait for dialysis and informed the nursing staff that he was going to leave with the port in his arm. VA Police were called, and he was tackled, had his head slammed against the ground, and was kneed in the neck.

The Raw Story stated:

??officers stopped the 65-year-old Montano by tackling him to the floor, slamming his head on the ground, and kneeing and stomping on his neck.?

The wife of Montano, who was not present, was told by nurses and an ER doctor that he had suffered a stroke caused by a fall.

However, one honest nurse pulled Norma Montano to the side and informed her that she was being lied to about the fall and that her husband had been tackled, beaten, and slammed to the ground.

Now, the family is suing the United States for:

??punitive and other damages for wrongful death, false imprisonment, constitutional violations, negligence, loss of consortium, and intentional infliction of emotional distress? (The Raw Story).

The suit states:

?This kneeing and stomping on his neck by the VA Police Department police officers caused the dissection of his carotid artery, that resulted in immediate (or very soon thereafter) blood clotting, which resulted in [his] suffering a stroke.?

I’m not really sure what I’m more ashamed of: the actions of the VA Police Department which lead to the death of a veteran who fought for our country or the fact only one honest nurse stepped forward?
