In what could possibly the worst nightmare of a news anchor, Taiwanese anchor Lee Chinhyu of Next TV News was reporting on a man’s death on live air when she realized that she was reporting the man was a close friend. She said:
?Breaking news just in. It is reported that the CtiTV news anchor Eric Shih has been found today in his house ? committed suicide. There was no note.
?The case is being investigated by the Taipei City Police Department, we will keep you updated.?
Visibly shaken, she kept a brave and professional front through the broadcast.
The investigation of Shih’s death is ongoing. Shih worked as a foreign correspondent in the U.S. and returned to Taiwan in 2009.
