Democratic strategist Brad Woodhouse tore his Republican counterparts a new one in recent evaluation of how the Tea Party has taken over the GOP.

On the May 20 broadcast of CNN’s ?Crossfire,? Woodhouse teamed up with former presidential advisor Van Jones in debate against Republican Party consultant David Bossie and S.E. Cupp, conservative columnist of the New York Daily News.

After Jones introduced his observation of the Tea Party hijacking the national Republican Party, Bossie attempted to counter, but not fast enough, and certainly not strong enough, to hinder Woodhouse’s three specific examples supporting Jones? argument.

?Mitch McConnell hid under a desk while Ted Cruz shut the government down; Eric Cantor will not cross the Tea Party caucus in the House to put immigration reform on the floor even though it would help the Republican Party in the long run; and in 2011, John Boehner turned over his cajones to the Tea Party and has never gotten them back.?

Watch Bossie stammer in attempt to interrupt Woodhouse’s detailed argument:

This Frankenstein-like takeover by its own creation could certainly affect Republicans in this year’s elections. Public perception of the Tea Party was never high, but it recently fell to its lowest point in the four-year history of this right wing adjunct of the GOP.

A recent Gallup Poll found Tea Party support to have dropped from 32 percent in Nov. 2010 to only 22 percent of the adult population today; 30 percent now identify as opponents of the movement. Support from self-identified Republicans dropped 20 points to only 41 percent, the survey found.
