This Is What Kids Really Think About Poor Kids Who Get Free Lunches

Georgia Republican Sen. Jack Kington?came under fire last year when people asked him where his ideas stand on free lunches for low-income students.?Kingston said:

“Why don’t you have the kids pay a dime, pay a nickel to instill in them that there is, in fact, no such thing as a free lunch? Or maybe sweep the floor of the cafeteria — and yes, I understand that that would be an administrative problem, and I understand that it would probably lose you money. But think what we would gain as a society in getting people — getting the myth out of their head that there is such a thing as a free lunch,” he said.” (Huffington Post)

Hear it for yourself if you haven’t already:

There is no simple way to describe this without using the adjectives selfish and stupid. This is stupid for the fact that kids who get free lunches usually are living with single parents who are working paycheck to paycheck, making $7.25 per hour just to make ends meet.

Plus, that free lunch may be the ONLY meal that these students get Monday through Friday. Meanwhile, students who get free lunches sometimes don’t even know it. A child who gets free lunches already understands the meaning of “no free rides” being that their parents are working their rears off to provide for them.

Sen. Jack Kingston believes students should have?to pay or work for their lunches. However, his liberal AND conservative colleagues thought his opinion was idiotic. As result of this, as of next school year, ALL students in the state of Georgia should?receive school lunches free of charge.

What’s also crazy is that Sen. Kingston himself gets a free lunch. Watch this.
