President Obama Is Just As Sick Of Benghazi As The Rest Of Us

President Obama hasn’t said much about the Benghazi “scandal” yet, and rightly so; conservatives can’t even really explain why they’re so upset about it without sounding like proper conspiracy theorists.? But during a fundraising dinner on Monday, President Obama did mention Benghazi… and yes, he’s just as sick of hearing about it as practically everyone else in the country.

“The debate we’re having now is about what, Benghazi?? Obamacare?? And it becomes this endless loop.? It’s not serious.? It’s not speaking to the real concerns that people have,” President Obama said.? He later added that Republicans are “trying to figure out how they can make people sufficiently cynical, sufficiently angry, sufficiently suspicious that they can win the next election.”

Republicans on Capitol Hill recently launched yet another probe into the Benghazi scandal.? And conservatives seem to be behind it, too; a recent Fox News poll shows that 54% of their viewers believe President Obama and his administration have been “deceitful” with regards to the attack in Libya, which?killed four Americans.? Of course, the validity and neutrality of their poll can rather easily be called into question, since it’s promoted by a network that has mentioned Benghazi 1,100 times in the past year.

Concerns regarding an alleged Benghazi scandal are further called into question by the fact that conservatives never launched investigations into any of the other attacks on US embassies or diplomatic missions, the worst of which happened on October 23rd, 1983, when 307 people, including 241 American servicemen, were killed in an attack in Beirut, Lebanon.? But Ronald Reagan was president then, so naturally there wasn’t a scandal worth investigating.? There were also 11 attacks on US diplomatic facilities during George W. Bush’s presidency, but none of those were perceived to be especially scandalous, either.

As for Obamacare, people do have legitimate concerns, regardless of where they stand politically or ideologically.? But those concerns are often overshadowed by the ridiculous, nearly comical number of Obamacare myths and all-out lies generated by the right-wing, helped along by the fact that Congressional republicans have attempted to repeal, defund, or otherwise alter President Obama’s law at least 50 times.? Perhaps if they spent less time trying to repeal Obamacare, and more time trying to work with the Obama administration with fair and reasonable proposals, Congress wouldn’t have the lowest approval rating of all time?? Just a thought.
