Matt Drudge Deleted All Of His Tweets On Monday. Except One.

On Monday, The Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge deleted all of his Tweets except one. The one he left leaves a “clue” of sorts as to why he felt the need to “unplug.”

Screengrab because, well, you know

It’s fascinating to think that Drudge made a name for himself by being an internet God, yet suddenly feels the pinch. Fascinating, I tell you.

Drudge’s personal Twitter account is different from that of the Drudge Report Twitter account, which remains intact. Drudge also cleared out his follow list and changed his background photo to one of a parrot pecking another. The plot thickens.

Wonkette proposed a theory as to why Matt Drudge did this:

On a more practical level, deleting the record of what you said is a handy way of keeping people from checking back on other stuff you may have said in the past though with 267,000 followers, you’ve got to bet there’s a pretty good archive out there somewhere.

This is a good reason to screengrab Tweets instead of embedding them in your blog posts. You just never know when a weasel is going to cover his tracks.
