Kid Pulse: Pres. Clinton’s Affair Doesn’t Define His Legacy In Any Way

Back in the 1990’s, there was a huge controversy that involved Pres.?Bill Clinton having an affair with a woman named Monica Lewinsky. However, it seems to me that he has done the most to give back to education, healthcare, and the?welfare of children and citizens of the world. Meanwhile, this controversy is still going on today.

This is downright crazy. The fact is that Pres. Clinton’s sex?life should not matter?when judging his career.

After?Clinton left?office, he and his family started the Clinton Foundation in which he helped improved health systems in poor countries. This foundation allowed children and adults of Africa to receive the medication for HIV and AIDS for free.

Along with this, when Pres. Clinton?left office, there was a surplus of extra money. ?How much? You can read all about it here, but?here are some highlights from that report.

The Largest Surplus in History:

  • The $123 billion surplus in 1999 is the largest dollar surplus in history, even after adjusting for inflation;
  • The surplus, expected to be about 1.4% of GDP, is the largest surplus as a share of the economy since 1951;
  • 1999 is the second year in a row of surplus, marking the first back-to-back surpluses since 1956-57;
  • This is the first time in U.S. history that we’ve experienced seven years in a row of fiscal improvement.

The Largest Debt Reduction in History:

  • Over the last two years, America has paid down $140 billion in public debt, the largest debt pay-down ever;
  • The debt held by the public is $1.7 trillion lower than was projected when President Clinton took office;
  • As a result, in 1999 alone, interest payments on the debt were $91 billion lower than projected.

How did that help Americans? When the economy is good,?houses are?built, cars are?bought, and yeah, you get the picture.

People think Clinton’s reputation after having the affair will stop Hillary Clinton?from running for president in 2016. However, Republicans don’t know what’s coming to them.
