Nope, sci-fi fans; this one’s for real.

Basehunters, a tornado-chasing team from Oklahoma, captured incredible footage of a rotating supercell storm that spun through Newcastle, Wyoming, on May 18. So immense and detailed was the cloud that it looks almost too horrific?to be real, but try telling that to folks in the Cowboy State.

Using an ultra wide-angle lens that gives it a ?fisheye? curve, the video lends you an up-close view in a time-lapse sequence as the team follows the cloud’s movement until it dissipates.

Check out this amazing video capture of the almost-tornado:

The small town in the northwest corner of Wyoming?is right on the edge of the Black Hills, where low pressure swooped downward to create yesterday’s?Armagedda-cloud.

Wyoming is only subject to an average of 12 tornadoes every year, according to the National Climate Data Center ? less than one percent of all that strike the U.S. annually.
