Fox News Tells Science Writer: Don’t Talk About Climate Change (VIDEO)

Jetsons

When Scientific American editor Michael Moyer gave a guest appearance on?Fox and Friends on April 30 to discuss future trends in science and technology, he was stunned to be told by a Fox News producer?that he could not talk about?climate change.

Moyer found it challenging to talk about future trends, saying that it’s a “fool’s game to guess at what technologies are going to exist in a half-century.” According to Moyer, the one thing that the scientific community is certain will happen is that climate change is going to worsen.

From his post for the Scientific American blog:

A 50-year-timescale is pretty far out. About the only interesting thing that the scientific community is sure will happen in the next 50 years is that?climate change is going to get worse, and that we’re going to have to?deal with the impacts. So I put that as one of my talking points.

Moyer says that the exact words that were said to him by a polite?Fox producer were “can we replace the climate change with something else??

As for his overall experience as a guest at Fox, Moyer was definitely underwhelmed.

Fox is in full denial mode, calling Moyer a “scientific coward.” Who’s surprised?

“We invited Michael on for a segment on technological and scientific trends we can expect in the future. We worked closely with him and his team and there was never an issue on the topic of climate change,” Suzanne Scott, SVP of programming at Fox News, said in a statement. “To say he was told specifically not to discuss it, would be false.
