Florida Prosecutor Setting Records For Dealing Out Death To Blacks

Some may remember Angela Corey’s name from the George Zimmerman trial. Corey is a State’s Attorney in Florida’s Fourth District Court. In a state whose racial makeup is only 16% black, Angela Corey is building quite a reputation handing out death to its African-American citizens.

In fact, from a look at her statistics, it’s pretty clear she’s targeting blacks deliberately. Of the 21 men Corey has sent to their deaths, 14 are African-American. According to the ACLU:

“Under Corey’s reign, things are even worse than they were during Jim Crow. Since 2009, 66 percent (and rising ? two defendants are currently pending final sentence) of people sentenced to death under Corey’s watch were African American. During Jim Crow, from 1924 ? 1964, African Americans made up 65 percent of those sentenced to death in the Corey’s Circuit.”

What is most shocking about Corey’s enthusiasm for the death penalty is that she seems to have no taste for sending white people to the death chamber for killing black people. In fact, no white?person has ever been executed in the state of Florida for killing a black person. Not even once.

Amazingly, several African-American clergy in Florida are calling for the number of death penalty prosecutions to increase, theorizing that the more cases there are, eventually the conviction rates will equalize. However, statistically this has not proven to be the case.

Given the cost of doing business with regards to practicing the death penalty in this country, it appears that no one realizes that Angela Corey is costing taxpayers literally millions?of dollars. Corey, whose district is in Duval County, Florida, is responsible along with two other counties in the whole of the United States for a full fifteen percent of the people being executed. This means that the rest of the state of Florida is paying for Angela Corey’s death fetish to the tune of 3.2 million dollars per inmate, regardless of whether the conviction is later overturned.

Recently George Zimmerman released for sale a copied AP photograph of Angela Corey that he had trace-painted, and added a made up quote, “I have this much respect for the American Judicial system.” Just this once, we tend to agree with Zimmerman, though not for the reasons he might believe.
