Meet Terri Lynn Land — The Woman Who’s Fueling The War On Women And Denies It

You may recall that earlier this month, I mentioned that former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, the all-but-certain Republican nominee in the race to succeed Carl Levin in the Senate, got rapped hard by American Bridge 21st Century for suggesting that women don’t really care about equal pay. In Land’s world, women want job flexibility more than a few more cents on their paychecks.

Well, Land was, shall we say, a little bit upset over this. She used her first ad to blast Democrats for even suggesting such a thing — or tries to, anyway. After implying that she’s shocked, shocked that her Democratic opponent, Gary Peters, and his “buddies” are accusing her of being a foot soldier in the war on women, she says, “Really? Think about that for a moment.” Then, instead of telling us why we should believe her rather than Peters, Land simply picks up a cup of coffee and takes a sip–while saying nothing whatsoever for almost 12 seconds. She does come back–but only to say that since she’s a woman, she knows “a little bit more about women” than Peters and the Democrats.

The most benign interpretation of this ad is that Land expects Michigan voters to think, “How can a woman wage a war on women?” Land must be delusional if she thinks most Michigan voters are that simplistic in their thinking. Then again, we are talking about the same Michigan GOP that even thought for a minute that a borderline racist ad was a good idea in the last cycle.
