Natalie Barber, a former Marine drill instructor in the U.S. Marines and now a North Carolina deputy, confiscated two cell phones that were recording her in the midst of ?a confrontation with a retired Marine combat instructor.?Photography Is Not a Crime?provided a video that’shows the deputy flipping out and grabbing the phones. The video contradicts her claim that she arrested Carlos Jaramillo?for being ?aggressive (below).

The deputy was on the property to handle a dispute between Jaramillo, 35, and a neighbor. When she asked Jaramillo for an ID, he provided his Veterans Affairs card, which is a government-issued form of identification. She refused to accept it and continued to demand another ID, presumably his drivers license. Jaramillo began to question her as to why she couldn’t accept his VA identification card, and she lost her temper, raised her voice, warned him not to act up, and told him to put the phone down.

A Facebook conversation indicates that the officer has a reputation for aggressiveness. Via?Photography Is Not a Crime:

Jaramillo refused and said that he was filming for his safety. Barber shouted ?For my safety, put the phone down!? She then grabbed the phone and put handcuffs on Jaramillo. When Jaramillo’s son began recording his father being detained, the deputy took that phone as well and screamed ??I’m snatching everyone’s phone and I will take everyone in!?

Barber is employed with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office. Jaramillo was placed in the back of the squad car in handcuffs, but was released on no charges when another deputy showed up and took over. Jaramillo’s son recorded the exchange with yet ?another phone that wasn’t confiscated by the deputy. Jaramillo’s complaints to Barber’s supervisors were dismissed.
