So-Called Democrat Running For Senate In Texas Jokes About Obama Being Executed

On Sunday, we alerted you that one of the candidates in the Democratic primary runoff for John Cornyn’s Senate seat in Texas, Kesha Rogers, isn’t really a Democrat at all. She’s actually a full-time organizer for Lyndon LaRouche, an eight-time presidential candidate with a serious messiah complex–he thinks that his leadership is the only way to save the economy and head off a massive conspiracy fueled by Zionists, bankers and the UK. To put it mildly, Rogers hates President Obama. Her campaign centers around a promise to have Obama removed from office–either by way of impeachment or having him declared insane per the 25th Amendment. If that wasn’t evidence enough that she isn’t really a Democrat, now it turns out she’s joking about having Obama executed.

Before running for Senate, Rogers made two consecutive runs for Congress in TX-22, the old Tom DeLay district–and was routed both times by Republican incumbent Pete Olson. Before her second congressional bid, her campaign staff put together a video called “SuperEgoGenocidalNarcissistPsychosis,” set to the tune of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”? Initially, it sounded like a really bad joke.

But Progress Texas noticed that at around the 1:40 mark, they sing, “The economic crash will not be cured by mere opprobrium. His doctor should administer some pentathol of sodium!” They were referring to sodium thiopental, an anesthetic that was part of the cocktail for most lethal injections in the United States until 2010, when nearly all European manufacturers stopped filling American orders rather than chance it being used for executions. In other words, we have a Senate candidate who is openly joking about the president of the United States to be executed. This is unacceptable, plain and simple.

Almost as unacceptable is the fact that the local press failed to turn this up sooner. Had it done so, it’s a safe bet the other Democrat in the race, David Alameel, would be focusing his energy on defeating Cornyn rather than having to fend off Rogers in a runoff. The closest recent parallel that can be drawn is to the 2010 Democratic primary for Senate in South Carolina. The favored candidate to derail Jim DeMint’s bid for a second term was Vic Rawl, a former judge and state representative. However, he was upset in the primary by Alvin Greene, an unemployed veteran who had no campaign infrastructure even worth mentioning. It was only after the primary that he was facing felony obscenity charges for showing a pornographic image to a female student at the University of South Carolina and then propositioning her.

Even if unseating Cornyn will be a difficult task, Texas Democrats can certainly do better than a candidate who openly jokes about the president being killed. And Wendy Davis should not be saddled with having to answer questions about this kind of embarrassment downballot.
